Pretty Little Projects: The Master Bedroom

My good friend Liv from Liv(e) is sharing some of her projects from around her pink house. I love a good project, the little things always make a big difference!

Take one master bedroom. Add pale sunshine and coffee beans. Mix it up over Labor Day weekend. Here's what happens.
This is the quick, two-day transformation Kev performed in our Master Bedroom a couple of years ago. I still love this room and how it keeps progressing.

Thanks for all your hard work Kev.

Simple, yet such a big difference.Warmed the room right up! Thanks so much Liv for sharing your fun projects, we love them!

Guest Post Tuesday Featuring: Liv of Liv(e) & Liv's Favs

We are SO excited to have our first guest blogger today, Liv of Liv(e) & Liv's Favs. I will let her introduce herself.....

I'm a self-proclaimed blogaholic, so I'm happy to be posting here today! Before I share my project with you, allow me to share a little about myself.
My husband Kev and I live in a Pink House with our two girls- our dog Maddie and our daughter Aspen. I blog over at Liv(e) and Liv's Favs because, y'know, I'm addicted to blogging. I worked in real estate before Aspen was born, and now I spend most of my days with her when I'm not teaching Yoga or Pilates.
I also run an Etsy shop, Liv(e) and Love, where you can find my hand-crafted jewelry, custom-made picture frames, and sometimes an amazing vintage piece.
I met the ladies of A lil bird... through the blogging world. SueAnn and I have since met in person so our babies can smooch on each other (we actually have friends in common as well, so that makes it easy to get together in real life).
Today I'm sharing a little project I did on a Saturday afternoon while Aspen shoved toys in her mouth for an hour. I used a $1 wooden frame from a craft store and covered it with ancient (seriously, from Kev's grandpa's basement) contact paper.
The contact paper had gridlines on the back, so it was easy to trace a piece slightly larger than my frame to cut out with a blade.

Once I had my piece sized, I slowly peeled the front from the protective backing and smoothed it out with my cutting board. After the contact paper was stuck onto the front of the frame, I flipped the whole thing over again and cut off the excess paper with my blade.
For extra shine and protection, I coated the front of the contact paper with mod-podge and voila! Done.

I cut this feathered friend out of a birthday card I received a few years ago and thought it was a perfect fit (especially for this website!). Since I already had all these supplies on hand, this project cost me nothing and I didn't even have to leave the house.
Thanks to the ladies of A lil bird told me for letting me visit today!

THANKS so much Liv for the AMAZING project! I am seriously in love with that frame! Be sure to check out Liv's blogs, ESPECIALLY her Etsy shop, I wish I had unlimited funds to buy so many of her cute creations!

Would you like to do a guest post on A lil bird? We would love to have you feature a project, your blog, or anything that strikes your fancy. Email us at bagsnrags3 (at) gmail (dot) com, we look forward to hearing from you!

Around the Town Tuesday...featuring Ogden's Christmas Village

We took a trip up to Ogden this past week to visit the Christmas Village. It was my first time there, and it was a really fun experience. The kids LOVED looking into all the little houses to see the unique ways they were decorated, Each one was charming and original, and it was a great Christmas activity to enjoy.

Western Santa....

and little elves hard at work.

Nutcracker collections.

Vintage Christmas, my FAVORITE!

Look there's even a stocking hung just for me...

This past weekend was CRAZY busy for me, because I was sewing Christmas skirts for my girls. It was my first attempt to sew anything "nice", and it was really HARD. It would have been easier if I had used an actual skirt pattern, but I thought I'd wing it. They actually turned out okay, and I got a lot of compliments. Next time I will start WEEKS in advance.

Around the Town Tuesday featuring...The Festival of Trees

I had the opportunity to go to The Festival of Trees this year! I haven't been for ages, since I live in Arizona, but it was so much FUN to go back and see all the gorgeous trees. The kiddos had lots of fun in the "Kids Corner", making crafts, and getting manicures, etc. I wish we could go every year...

I found a white Christmas tree at a thrift store recently, but I left it behind. Now I am KICKING myself for that decision. Look at this lovely flocked specimen...

Wouldn't this Western Tree be adorable in a little boy's bedroom?

My kids looked THRILLED to be tagging along, don't they?

Love, love, love, love, love this wreath!

The kids did get excited when I promised to take a picture of each one of them in front of their favorite trees...

Here we have The Wizard of Oz...

The Pink Poodles...

and The Super Hero tree...

This one was my favorite, and I can't wait to incorporate some of the design elements into my tree NEXT year.

Another favorite...

"C" is for Cookie, and that's good enough for me!

Last but not least, a pretty little gingerbread house to add to me obsession.

Around the Town Tuesday featuring...Sledding!

We have gotten A TON OF SNOW! I thought it would be lots of fun to take the kiddos sledding. Being from Arizona, we don't have all the cold weather garb that official sledders need. Luckily there's a church, with great hills, just up the street from where we're staying. When the noses got froze, as I knew they would in 15 degree weather, we were just a hop, skip and a jump away from steamy hot cocoa.

Getting ready to "hit the hills".

The concentrating tongue is definitely from my side of the family...

I even got to go down a couple times. There's nothing like a trip down a snowy hill to make you feel your age!

She's having so much FUN!

I love hanging out with these CRAZY kids!

How I LOVE that smile :) Gracie would only go down the hill with Daddy.

A sure sign that we've had enough sledding for the day...

I hope everyone is enjoying their weather, as much as we're enjoying ours!
