Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice

A few weeks ago I helped with a baby shower for a neighbor. The neighborhood did it pot luck style and there was some yummy food! I made ham & cheese sliders, my MIL had made them for a shower a year ago, they are so yummy! There wasn't a real theme or anything, but the Mom to be said she was doing her nursery in red, brown, and cream, so I made a small banner in those colors for above the food table.
I also made this yummy punch. I got the recipe from Pinterest of course!
I was also in charge of the favors. Ever since I did this post, I have been dying to make some lips! I thought they would work for favors since it was a baby shower for a girl! They were a piece of cake, my Silhouette did all the work, I slid in the suckers and they were done.
Here is one close up, I will totally be using these as Valentine's some day.
I also found some cinnamon lips to go with the favors.
I made the Mom to be a small diaper cake, the flower is actually a headband for the sweet babe. I didn't use all the diapers, so I tied a ribbon around the rest.
It was a fun summer night to enjoy my neighbors, can't wait to meet the little lady in a few weeks!

Fun Favor Idea: Weekend Website

I have birthdays on the brain in a major way. I keep finding great ideas for my son's birthday then adding another project to my to do list. I need to stop and just get done what I have. I have to have all the decor done by the 17th because I will be out of town through Easter and his birthday is 2 days after. On those days I will be baking up a storm. ANYWAY, I am rambling a bit now, birthdays and fun ideas, that is where I am going with this post. Aren't those super heroes adorable!! I think they would be fun favors for a super hero themed birthday party. Do you wanna know the best part about them? Jessica over at zakka life has the printable templates for FREE. I have this page bookmarked, being the Mom of a boy I am positive we will be doing a super hero themed party someday. Hope you have a fun weekend planned, I joined a softball league and our first practice is on Saturday, YAY! We are also going to a pirate themed birthday party at Pirate Island and it is General Conference weekend. The best part is, I get to participate in all of these activities because I don't work this weekend. That rarely happens. Enough of my babbling....enjoy your weekend!!

Party Plannin'

2011 is going to be a year full of party planning for me. I have a baby shower, my son's first birthday, and my parents 50th wedding anniversary this year, thankfully I love party planning! My lovely sister in law is due with her first baby, a boy (yay for boy cousins!), in about 6 weeks. We are planning her shower the first weekend in February and I am SO EXCITED! A few weeks ago I was browsing one of my favorite websites, Bake It Pretty, in search of some straws for my son's first birthday party. Yes, I do realize that my son's first birthday party isn't for another FOUR months, but what can I say, I am a planner, and have a very tight budget, so I am starting now!! ANYWAY, though I found some super cute straws, I actually found some cute ones at my local kitchen specialty store for a lot cheaper. I did however come across these....Mustache lolli molds!!! I HAD to get them, plus they were on sale. I thought they would be perfect for a little man party, and having a son, I know we will have one of those one day. I was tempted to change my first birthday party theme, but I love the ideas I have for that! I decided these would be PERFECT for my SIL's shower though! I am having a little man themed shower and SO excited!! It will be fun to share all the details after the shower. Stay tuned!

Five Minute Party Favors

Being a new mom and a working one at that, my time is limited, so anything that is quick and easy is something that I am very interested in. I love planning parties and showers and I love all the cute crafty projects out there, but sadly I just don’t have the time anymore to spend hours cutting, gluing, ect. So these are a few favors that only take minutes to make, and are super cute!

Favor Candy Buffet:

Since candy buffets are so popular right now, we did these candy jars last year for my cute sister in laws bridal shower. Her colors were pink, so that was our theme. The jars are the RAJTAN from IKEA, they are $3.99 for a 4 pack. We got the candy from the dollar store and used jars and vases we already had to put the candy in. The stickers on the jars are from Pebbles in my Pocket and are $.99 for 3. If you choose to pre-fill your jars you can put a cute ribbon around them, since we did it buffet style, I opted not to, then I didn’t have to deal with them falling off. Please excuse my out of focus photo….

Baby shower treat bags:

These we did for my cute cousin’s baby shower. I was 38 weeks pregnant when I made these (I gave birth at 39.), so they are VERY easy and require minimal effort. The stickers are again from Pebbles ($.99 for 3), as well as the suckers ($.75 each), and the ribbon is from Michael’s ($1.99/10 yards).

Do you have any 5 minute favors? We would love to see them, post a comment below!
